OJ..J..U

T~PE IV RIVER BASIN SQ~VEYS

Many comments and suggested revisions of the second draft of the
Yampa River Basin Report have been received. Review comments
have been very commendable of the report and a number of correc-
tions and revisions have been suggested that will be incorporated
in the final report. The final report will probably ~e ready for
printing about the middle of September.

I

current work in the Dolores River Basin is on the sections re-
lated to cropland and vegetative cover, land use and ownership,
salinity and water quality problems, and water resources. Draft-
ing work and overlays have been completed on the Bedrock Geology,
cropland, and Vegetative Cover, and General Soils Map.

Field Work on the San Juan River Basin is continuing on soils,
geology, and sediment yields. A survey is ~eing conducted on
the Piedra Soil Survey Area by the Forest Service and the inform-
ation will be of use for both Type IV and Type I studies in the
San Juan River Basin."

MR. STAPLETON:

"Before we go into Agenda Item #3, and
the reports relating to Agenda Item #3, I
would like to acknowledge the presence of
three of our former Board members. Mr. Bill
Nelson from Grand Junction, Mr. Dave Miller
from Greeley and Mr. Lew Williams from Nor-
wood. Nice to have you with us.

Now I think it might be well to go back
to Ted Moulder and the V.S.G.S. report and
then we'll go into the meat of the discussion
of Item #3. Ted."

MR. MOULDER:

"In lieu of our usual statewide progress
report, we plan to substitute a progress
report on our San Luis Valley studies and to
give that report we have Phil Emery who is
a project Chief and is a resident of Alamosa.
Phil, would you come and describe to us the
progress you have made on this particular
project and outline some of the problems of
the San Luis Valley?"

I

Mr. Emery used a screen, projector and slides to
illustrate his presentation.
