<br />V~~~ <br /> <br />a. Chatfield Dam and Reservoir. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(1) Desiqn. The embankment design for the dam was <br />revised in August 1968. Design memorandums covering the revised <br />embankment and spillway designs are being prepared for submission <br />to the Chief of Engineers. Project rights-of-way drawings are <br />being prepared for the channel improvement downstream from the <br />dam. <br /> <br />(2) Relocations. Construction on about 25 percent of <br />Highway 75 relocation is currently under way. The remaining <br />75 percent of the work is expected to be advertised in early fall <br />1968. Negotiations are under way for the relocation of electric, <br />gas, and telephone utilities, and construction is scheduled to <br />commence this fall. Negotiations are continuing with the Denver <br />Water Board for relocation of conduit number 10. <br /> <br />(3) Construction. Construction of Stage I, the <br />valley cutoff, was completed during the spring of 1968. Con- <br />struction on Stage II, Earthwork, is under way. Completion of <br />administrative facilities, which was awarded in February 1968, <br />has been delayed by strikes. <br /> <br />b. Mount Carbon Dam and Reservoir Pro;ect. The Mount <br />Carbon Dam and Reservoir project was authorized for construc- <br />tion by the Flood Control Act of 1968. Funds to commence pre- <br />construction planning activities were not included in the Fiscal <br />Year 1969 Public Work Appropriations Act. <br /> <br />c. Basin P1anninq. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />(I) General. Studies are under way at several loca- <br />tions in the South Platte River basin. Subsurface explorations <br />have been completed at 3 potential reservoir sites in the Bijou <br />Creek basin and 2 potential reservoir sites in the Sand Creek <br />and Toll Gate Creek basins. Detailed studies of the Sand Creek <br />and Toll Gate Creek basins have been initiated. Four studies <br />are being made under authority of Section 205 of the 1948 Flood <br />Control Act, as amended. Reconnaissance investigations under <br />this authority are nearing completion at Elizabeth, Roggen, and <br />Fort Collins. In response to a request from local officials, a <br />reconnaissance investigation, under Section 205 authority, has <br />been initiated at Deer Trail. <br /> <br />(2) Sand Creek basin.
