ATTACHMENT 8

FPR 99-500
Flood Insurance Study, Town of Basalt, Eagle County, Colorado, dated
September 1979.

KEY ISSUES:
· The Flood Insurance Study and accompanying Flood Insurance Rate Map for Basalt contains detailed
floodplain information and IOO-year floodplain delineations for the Roaring Fork and Fryingpan Rivers.
within the town limits.

· The 1979 F1S has now been superseded by a more current FIS published by FEMA. The CWCB staff
would like to acknowledge and rescind the 1979 FIS at this time.

COMMUNITY RESPONSE:
The Town of Basalt sent a letter requesting the ewCB to take official action on the 1979 FIS.
CWCB staff also met with Basalt officials to discuss the floodplain information and the
designation process. The Town is supportive of official CWCB action.

SUMMARY:
The staff recommends that the Board acknowledge and rescind the resolution for the Town of
Basalt. Town staff members are supportive of the proposed action. Approval of the resolution will
assure that the town's outdated FIS will be officially rescinded by the CWCB.

12

e

e

e
