<br />~~~- <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />sugar Loaf Dam and Roads continued clearing <br />and burning timber along the county road re- <br />location. Excavation for the spillway and <br />cutoff trench was initiated. As of June 30, <br />1966, the contractor has completed approxi- <br />mately 20 percent of the contract with 17 per- <br />cent of the contract time elapsed. <br /> <br />The contractor for construction of the <br />poncha-Midway section of tile Curecanti-Midway <br />230 kv. transmission line commenced operations <br />late in ~~rch 1966. Clearing for transmission <br />line right-of-way and access road construction <br />are under way. On May 3l, 1966, the contractor <br />had completed approximately 8.2 percent of the <br />contract with 12.6 percent of the contract time <br />elapsed. <br /> <br />Agreements with the cities of Colorado <br />Springs and Aurora for coordination of the <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas project and the Homestake <br />Project were completed on May 2, 1966, when the <br />contract was signed by the Regional Director <br />on behalf of the united states. <br /> <br />On the Trinidad Project, as of June 16, <br />1966, five ditch companies in the Trinidad <br />project area have executed contracts with the <br />purgatoire River Water Conservancy District <br />for repayment of their proportionate share of <br />the irrigation costs associated with the Trini- <br />dad Project. In addition to the five who have <br />completed their contracts, there are seven who <br />have orally agreed to sign the repayment con- <br />tract. The Conservancy District attorneys <br />hope to have all the remaining contracts signed <br />by the end of July. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />In the Upper Arkansas River Basin, meet- <br />ings were held with interested community leaders <br />to discuss future potential water reclamation <br />projects. Contracts were executed with the <br />Colorado State University and Fort Hays, Kansas, <br />State College for a reconnaissance-type survey <br />which will determine the kinds and amounts of <br />woody phreatophyte vegetation on the flood <br />
