Mr. Saunders said, liOn the ground water survey, is there a <br />possibility of some of the counties matching funds furnished by the <br />State and having the work done under direction of the Board. With <br />some counties matching Water Board in addition to U.S.G.S. the Board <br />could keep program going faster. <br /> <br />t <br />21. Mr. Crawford stated that it is coming to the point where <br />it is necessary to select an engineering firm to oversee and report <br />on the Western Slope survey. The Conference Committee on May 5 or 6 <br />will make a recommendation. Of course, its recommendation will have to <br />come to the Board and we shall want to secure approval as promptly as <br />possible. Every day we delay on this is about a week lost. Could a <br />date. be set now for the next meeting of the Board? <br /> <br />Mr. Bailey said he is tied up May 4, that May 6 would be. all right. <br /> <br />Mr. Sacmders said he and Mr. Petry were tied up May 5. <br /> <br />I.:r. Crawford said Mr. Cory is pleadin3 for a meeting of the <br />Conference Committee in !.!ontrose or Delta. <br /> <br />After discussion of the Board, it was recommended that the next <br />Conference COIllmittee meeting be held in l.!ontrose on May 6, aml that, <br />tentatively, Monday, May 18 be set as the date for the next meeting <br />of the Board. <br /> <br />Mr. Breitenstein said the Governor may appoint three new men to <br />the Board. <br /> <br />22. Mr. Crawford, in considering the Minutes of the last meeting, <br />read a letter to the Board received from 1tr. Dela~~in which he stated <br />that the last five lines of his statement on Page Fo/which were taken <br />down by a stenographer were probably right, but that the following <br />statement is what he tried to present:, <br /> <br />In an adjudication proceeding in the District Court of ' Summit <br />County, Colorado, involving the waters of the Blue River and its <br />tributaries, Denver obtained a decree which would appropriate.all <br />the waters of the Blue River which reached that st~eam at Dillon. <br />However, the priority date awarded in said decree was June 24, 1946. <br />Denver and other claimants have taken the case. to the Supreme ,Court <br />and there asked for an earlier appropriation which would antedate the <br />priority date claimed by the United States by reason of the construction <br /> <br />I <br />
