Moses presented the following resolution for consideration <br />by the Board: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />,;i1lJillEl\S: T.he construction of Y;agon Y,beel Gap Dan, a unit of the <br />San Luis Valley Project on the Rio Grande in Colorado, was <br />authorized by the Secretary of the Interior on February 1, 1940, <br />and <br />WHERE:J\S: a supplemental report prepared by the Bureau of. Reclama- <br />tion is now in the office of the Secretary of the Interior for action, <br />NOW ,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVJ;;]) by the Colorado State Water Conserva- <br />tion Bo~d, that the Secretary of the Interior be requested to <br />approve said report and request ~he appropriation of funds to com- <br />plete the construct}on of ~agon Wheel Gap Darn, on the basis of the <br />1940 authorization~lwithout referring the matter to. any s'tates for <br />comment, and without securing the reauthorization of said project <br />by the Congress. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Colorado Congressional delegation, <br />the Secretary of the Interior, the Co~~ssioner of Reclamation <br />and tpe Governor of the State of Colorado be provided copies of <br />this resolution with a request to aid in its implementation. <br /> <br />Mr. Breitenstein said, "It is the recommendation of the Board <br />that the Y~gon U~eel Gap unit of the San Luis Valley project shall go <br />forward on. the basis of the 1940 authorization, without submission to <br />Congress or resubmission to the affected states. Adequate appropriations <br />to start construction of the project should be authorized by Congress." <br /> <br />!.lr. Dutcher made the motion and it carried unanimously. <br /> <br />--,. <br /> <br />Mr. Saunders rGcoT:lffiended that this Board urge the Congress to <br />appropriate funds to complete the unit of the '::agon Wheel Gap Dam. <br /> <br />Mr. McCormick seconded the motion - it was unanimously passed. <br /> <br />Mr. Bell said it was previously authorized. <br /> <br />Mr. Gildersleeve said we have a cORr of it. <br /> <br />Chairman Bailey thanked the San Luis Valley men for coming in. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />19. Chairman Bailey said, "I dOn 't like the idea of suggesting the <br />use of any of our budget for underground water services; as far as I am <br />concerned, we still want to have an Assistant Director." <br /> <br />Mr. Dille asked if anything had been done abou~ getting an <br />Assistant Director. <br /> <br />lA't'. Crawford said, "Not until after July 1st." <br />
