<br />Leroux Creek Water Users Association - Carl Smith Dam Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: Emergency Infrastructure Account <br />Water Source: Leroux Creek <br />Terms of Loan: $300,000 @4.0% for 30 years <br /> <br />County: Delta - N of Hotchkiss <br />Project Yield: 750 ac.ft. <br />Project Type: Darn Rehabilitation <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />This emergency loan project is the re-construction of the Carl Smith Dam, located 15 miles <br />north of Hotchkiss in Delta County, which failed unexpectedly in May 1998. The Leroux Creek <br />Water UserS Association has contracted Smith Geotechnical Engineering Consultants of forth <br />Collins to analyze design alternatives and complete construction plans and specifications. <br />Construction is scheduled for the swnmer of 1999. <br /> <br />Ute Water Conservancv District - Plateau Creek Pipeline <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 88-30 <br />Water Source: Grand Mesa Drainage <br />Terms of Loan: $7,600,000 @ 5% for 30 years <br /> <br />County: Mesa - E of Palisade <br />Project Yield: 7,200 ac.ft. <br />Project Type: Pipeline Construction <br /> <br />This project is the replacement of an existing 15-mile pipeline providing water to the Ute .' <br />Water Conservancy District. The District provides water to 55,000 people, or more than half of the <br />Grand Valley population. The Environmental Assessment was heavily scrutinized by the fish and <br />Wildlife Service relative to the Recovery Irnplementation Program along the IS-mile reach. This <br />analysis has resulted in the Bureau of Land Management (the lead federal agency) requiring an <br />Environmental Impact Statement be prepared before federal approval can be granted. The Record <br />of Decision regarding the EIS was completed in June 1998. Camp, Dresser, & McKee, Inc. of <br />Denver is currently preparing the project design for a construction commencement in late 1998. <br /> <br />San Luis Vallev Canal Companv - Diversion Structure Rehabilitation <br /> <br />Authorization: SB 97-008 <br />Water Source: Rio Grande River <br />Terms of Loan: $188,000@ 3.75% for 30 years <br /> <br />County: Rio Grande - E of Monte Vista <br />Project Yield: 25,000 ac.ft <br />Project Type: Diversion Structure Rehab. <br /> <br />This project is the rehabilitation of the San Luis Valley Canal Company's Rio Grande River <br />diversion structure. The project is located in Rio Grande County, 3 miles east of Monte Vista. The <br />Alamosa office of the Natural Resource Conservation Service has prepared the design plans with . <br />the CWCB staff preparing the construction contract documents. Due to unexpected expenditures in <br />1998, the Company has postponed construction of the project until the fall of 1999. <br />
