Mr. Stapleton: Is Senator Dominick's representative here?

Mr. Klein: Yes.

Mr. Stapleton: Could you identify yourself and address yourself to
question for us?

that I

here

Mr. Klein: I am Walter Klein. Senator Dominick's special assistant
in Colorado. I am not part of the staff that has been working with
Senator Dominick on that particular bill. but I was informed by the
Senator to be here.

Mr. Stapleton: Let me say this. I have been talking with Mr. Sparks
and I am suggesting that maybe we I don't get the feel of the
wilderness areas as I should and some of the others that don't wear ties
to this meeting don't either. We are talking tentatively about getting
together maybe the weekend of the lOth of August to go over this area.
not only for this project. but in terms of the feel of the whole concept
as it may apply to water development in other areas. have a meeting say
the Monday morning after that to discuss that and to give the people
that are interested an opportunity to express themselves and then the
board can take its position. What I would like to do during the noon
recess is see if you can clear this with Washington and see how the
schedule of Agust 13 will affect you. I am hoping that they will under-
stand our position in trying to give people an opportunity to be heard
because I am sure the Senator doesn't want that to be foreclosed if it
can work in with the time schedule. And if you can report back to us
after we have our lunch. that would be most helpful. Does that seem a
reasonable thought on the part of you. the board members?

Mr. Klein: I will try to find out.

Mr. Stapleton: I appreciate that. I am not sure why the communication
between our board and Mr. Brannan's company on this agenda item didn't
go through. I am sorry about that. This is a solution I think since
our board would like to explore with Senator Dominick's office during
the lunch hour and we will go from there. This might be a good time to
suggest we adjourn until one o'clock. We are going to have a buffet I
lunch upstairs so we can all get served and back here in an hour. The
cost is $2.25. plus tax. We will be back here at one o'clock. hopefully.
to get through with our agenda at three o'clock as we promised you. If
we don't. we don't. Let's now adjourn. And be sure. everybody in this
hotel. check out now because after one o'clock it is another day.

-46-
