I

I

MR. JERMAN:

MR. PETERSON:

MR. JERMAN:

lUl~

"Any day now. We are anxious to get
this information. Our final programing
conference will be held in Santa Fe the week
of the 26th and we are hoping we will have
that for that meeting. We have no idea at
all how much money would be needed from the
State and if any was contributed, how much
time would be saved or speeded up by the
contribution."

"The local people are more informed on
that. The topography to be covered there is
some forty to fifty thousand acres. We can
anticipate a cost of $1.00 to $1.25 an acre.
So I say we have got quite a spread in there.
We would like to follow that up immediately
after appropriations are confirmed."

"I have one other point. The possibility
of a State contribution to speed investigations
on the Dallas Creek project has been suggested
in discussions with local representatives. We
appreciate the offers to help and recognize the
valuable contributions that have been made by
the State and local people in the past. How-
ever, until our fiscal year 1959 appropriations
are final and we can determine the extent to
which adjustments can be made with our own
funds, we would elect to defer any consideration
of State moneys on the project to a later date.

The priorities of project investigations
approved by the Board on June 5, 1958, have
been considered in the preparation of our new
7~year investigational program. Investigations
have been tentatively scheduled to begin on the
small Parshall project in fiscal year 1960,
Yellow Jacket in ,fiscal year 1961, Battlement
Mesa, Tomichi Creek and Bluestone projects in
fiscal year 1963 and Two Bar, Troublesome, Ohio
Creek, Grand Mesa, Wessels, and Rabbit Ear pro-
jects in fiscal years 1963 and 1964.

Here is the point. You will note that I
have not mentioned the priority of new starts
in the southwest part of Colorado which were
mentioned by Mr. Crabtree. These are the San
Juan projects and San Miguel beginning this
fiscal year. In the priorities you have recom-
mended, or the projects you have recommended,
following San Miguel is the O'Neal. Now, as
described by Mr. Crabtree in our reconnaissance
report, which was prepared and submitted to the
