Savery-Pot Hook Proj~

A. Recently the Fish and Wildlife Serviee haVe ihdi~Ated that
considerable more wildlife information is available in Wyoming
and Colorado. During recent meetings with wildlife resource
staff members from both states, Colorado personnel have indi-
cated that irrigation of the 11,000 acres of full service
lands would severely impact the antelope and grouse resource.
Meetings are scheduled this week to explore possible mitigation
measures.

B. We have been requested to include the new wildlife data in
our draft environment statement. We have requested the Fish
and Wildlife Service to provide us this data by July 15, 1975.

C. Negotiations have been completed for aerial topographic
coverage of the project reservoir basins.

D. We envision subsequent contracts which will allow precon-
struction data gathering to proceed.

Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Project

A. Grand Valley Unit

1. A contract was negotiated in March 1975 to obtain aerial
topography, orthophoto maps, and cross sections of the
Grand Valley area. Value of contract - $240,009.

2. A contract was awarded ($46,300) in April 1975 for
drilling exploratory holes along large canals in the proj-
ect area. This will provide geologic information for
use in canal lining designs. In addition, it will pro-
vide data for the ongoing cooperative study by the
Agricultural Research Service in the Peck and Bede Wash
study area. In this area the gross inflow-outflow can
be isolated to determine salt pick-up and the effect
lining of canals and laterals will have on the salt pickup.

B. Paradox Valley Unit

1. Several contracts have been awarded to provide basic data
for the advance planning studies. These are:

a. Foundation drilling - Raditun Dam

b. Drilling and installing 27 peizometers

c. Drilling 3 exploratory wells

d. Archeological and historical surveys

e. Environmental studies, including wildlife and
fauna inventories.

-8-

I

I
