619

!,m. PETERSON:

"Question."

The motion was carried unanimously upon vote.

TIIR. ~lOSES:

"I have one matter to take up with
you that won't take very much time. One
of the things my constituents have been
asking is why don't we do something about
the Rio Grande Compact and I want to read
to you a clipping from the Albuquerque,
New Mexico newspaper as follows:" (See
Appendix D).

I

A brief discussion on this article followed.

MR. PETERSON:

"I have a matter here I would like to
bring before the Board. I received a
copy of the State Game and Fish Depart-
ment's bi-monthly magazine in which Arti-
cle #1, quite lengthy, proceeds to con-
demn the Curecanti Project and:ends up by
requesting sportsmen throughout the State
of Colorado to write their Congressmen to
oppose any congressional action pertain-
ing to the Curecanti Project.

I don't want to try to place the
Game and Fish Department in a position
in which they could not enter into nego-
tiations and make recommendations when
we are considering storage projects but
this is one where the State Game and ,
Fish Department had a member on the Policy
and Review Committee who attended all of
the meetings and ended up by agreeing to
the Curecanti Project as it is now pro-
posed and has signed the report to that
effect. That was drawn up five or six
years ago and now they come back with a
program to condemn that project and I
think this Board should take action. I
think that the Director should present
our opposition to this type of progaganda;
to have this article retracted; and ward I
off any future articles along this same
line. I would like to move that the Direc-
tor contact the Director of the State Game
and Fish Department or whomever he thinks
necessary to correct that situation."

MR. MOSES:

"Is there a second to the motion."
