Mr. Spar~s: Maybe none. This is nothing but a rebommendation.

Mr. Ten Evck: Another piece of evidence in the Senate hearing, con-
sideration of the bill, I think.

Mr. Brannan: Mr. Chairman, may I ask one question?

Mr. Stapleton: Yes, sir.

I

Mr. Brannan: For the first time I have heard about an expression of
Governor Love with respect to this bill today in this hear'ing. I
thought I had read the record carefully and I did not see any letter
from the Governor and I just think it would be useful to everybody
if somebody could produce that letter from the Governor.

Mr. Stapleton: Mr. Brannan, Mr. Ten Eyck represents the Department
of Natural Resources and I consider him the spokesman for that area.
So when he says there is a letter, there is a letter, and I am sure
he will be glad to produce it for you.

Mr. Ten Evck: I believe Ben, that I have reported this same informa-
tion in our meeting in Glenwood Springs.

Mr. Stapleton: It was clear there.

Mr. Ten Evck: I am sorry, we weren't trying to hide it, but the
statement was made at Glenwood Springs.

Mr. Brannan: I am only referring to the Congressional, the Senate
records, and maybe you are not referring to the Senate.

Mr. Ten Evck: The letter was written to Senator Haskell with the
intention that it be included in the Senate hearing record. A copy
of the same letter was sent to Senator Dominick. Yesterday Mr. Quarles
of .-the Senate Interior Committee was in my office and he said Mr.
Haskell's staff had been unable to find this letter provided to them,
so I provided him with the first copy he had seen of it. If there
have been some communication difficulties in a freshman Senator's
office - and this is the description of the staffman, not mine, then
there may be some communication difficulties, but I can furnish you
with a copy of the correspondence and would be willing to do so. It
is a public document.

I

Mr. Stapleton: Mr. Brannan, I will invite you to sit down with the
board and in full view of the Sunshine Law discuss what our next step
is in regard to this matter.

-24-
