of that office has not yet been determined and
we are in the process of reviewing applica-
tions from interested engineers for a construc-
tion engineer to be headquartered there to
supervise all the construction work on the
western slope.

The commission, which was set up in the
operating principles and initiated by this
Board last fall, has been organized and held
its initial meeting in February.

I

As of the 28th of February, we had 99
people on the Fry-Ark Project; 43 of them in
the Pueblo office; 26 in the Basalt office;
27 at Buena Vista; and 3 at the Salida labora-
tory.

Our Denver Development Office, Mr. Greer's
office, has also been very busy in the interim.
We are happy to report this morning that we
have completed all of the work that we can do
on the Narrows Project. At the present time
we have suspended all operations on the
Narrows until such time as decisions can be
reached by this Board and the Steering Com-
mittee for further work.

We have attached to this report, which
some of you have, a profile showing the results
of seismographic surveys of the downstream
Weld County site that we have explored and
which is being explored by private consulting
engineers of the Board. We found, on that
site, that the greatest depth to the shale
bedrock was 160 feet, at which point the land
surface is 47 feet higher than the river so
that the shale elevation at bedrock there is
113 feet below the river level. This survey
shows that there is 1400 feet, that is lineal
feet, across the axis of the dam with a depth
to bedrock greater than 145 feet; another 900
feet with a depth to bedrock greater than 95
feet; and an additional 7,700 feet with a depth
to bedrock greater than 50 feet.

I
