<br />.... ,...,,- <br /> <br />There was a major contract awarded on <br />the 230-kv transmission line between Curecanti <br />to Poncha Junction and, as Jim has already <br />mentioned here, the regional work on the <br />Archer substation on which Region 7 is doing <br />the construction work. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Moving on to the participating projects, <br />the Silt Project is well under way to initiate <br />construction. We anticipate calling for bids <br />on the storage unit of that project, Rifle Gap <br />Dam, and we anticipate that these specifica- <br />tions will be completed sometime in April. <br />We have appointed a construction engineer for <br />that project and he will move, up at Anvil <br />Point, into the old oil shale demonstration <br />plant. We have made arrangements to house <br />people required for the construction of this <br />project at this Bureau of Mines installation. <br />This will save us the expense of constructing <br />the camp and we hope to be able to operate <br />from that installation. <br /> <br />On our General Investigations, Reconnais- <br />sance Investigations, our Upper Gunnison Basin <br />report is essentially completed. It is in <br />the final stage of preparation. We are still <br />doing some work on the Ruedi-Western Slope <br />Investigation, a cooperative study with your <br />Board, which work is essentially to coordi- <br />nate the designs of Ruedi Dam so that they <br />will fit in with the potential Basalt Project. <br />In accordance with our contract with you <br />people we are preparing a letter-type report <br />on this activity. <br /> <br />I think everybody is aware that the <br />Juniper report is out and I understand that <br />will be discussed a little later on. <br /> <br />As far as Feasibility Investigations are <br />concerned, I'll report the last activity on <br />all of these items. On the Animas-La Plata <br />Project, we have recently received the comments <br />of the State of New Mexico. We have not re- <br />ceived reports yet from Arizona and utah; <br /> <br />I <br />
