<br />,~ <br /> <br />There was discussion on the adequacy of the President's budget <br /> <br />for the Colorado Water project funding~ Any concern that there <br /> <br />would be gudgeting cutbacks. Mr. Tommy Thomson suggested that the <br /> <br />strategy is to support the level of proposed funding against poten- <br /> <br />tial cuts and not seek additional furlrling beyond the President's <br /> <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />There followed a general discussion on the numbers of studies <br /> <br />which have been undertaken for the last 23 years during Chairman <br /> <br />Stapleton's 10 years on the Board. Chairman Stapleton particularly <br /> <br />inquired about the Department of Natural Resources Water Policy <br /> <br />study. Mr. McDonald responded that the study staff has changed, <br /> <br />but that the study should be completed during this calendar year. <br /> <br />He indicated that the basic thrust of the study ms to describe the <br /> <br />several consequences likely to occurr under the existing water rights <br /> <br />system. <br /> <br />Attx the close of this presentation, Mr. Hall indicated that he <br /> <br />favored appljing some of the technical assistance money available <br /> <br />in October for work on the cache la poudre. <br /> <br />Chairman Stapleton then called on Mr. Bill <br /> <br />~ <br />Plumberl\the Upper <br /> <br />Colorado RegionBMEE. He reported on the - -6 L status of current <br /> <br />projects. First the Dallas Creek project is underway. The contractor <br /> <br />is on site and relocation work has been completed. The service is <br /> <br />considering the possibility of adding hydroelectric generating capa- <br /> <br />bility at Ridgeway Dam. <br /> <br />The Dolores project is underway. Right of way acquisition is <br /> <br />60% complete and road construction is underway. Bids for construc- <br />~~ <br />tion of McPhee will be open on June 3rd withx the contract award likely <br />
