I

I

used primarily for municipal and industrial and domestic water and
not for irrigation. The irrigation would be taken care of out of
the Dallas Divide plant on Log Hill Mesa. Being operated as a year-
round operation for M&I water, we will not have the heavy summer
dra,,,down we would have with irrigation in the reservoir. Therefore,
it should be very attractive from a recreational and fishing stand-
point. During the best recreational season, from Memorial Day to
the 1st of September, it would be essentially full.

Mr. Cornelius: Robie, could I ask a question? What acreage is good
agricultural land under this Alkali site? DO you know?

Mr. Robins: Yes. You want to go back two slides, Ed. You will note
at the Alkali site - I thought I had those acreages on here.

Mr. Ford: Five hundred acres of irrigated land.

Mr. Robins: It can accommodate 500 acres of irrigated land. This
other one up here, the original one we had, could accommodate 2,000
acres of irrigated land.

(Slide) The present cost estimates indicate that this project is going
to cost around $55,000,000. It is higher than the old plan, primarily
because of increased construction costs. At the present time, we have
$240,000 to complete our definite plan report, including our environ-
mental impact statement. Now, we have a write-in for an additional
$250,000. However, it is earmarked for a right-of-way. So we hope
to get our definite plan report and everything cleared up along in
February or March. We would start then negotiations on our repayment
contract and start preparing designs and specifications from our
planning funds. Then we would start purchasing rights-of-way. We
will have to rely on money next year for final right-of-way purchase
before we can start construction on the dam itself. However, it will
be a significant start if we get right-of-way money this year. We
are unofficially requesting about three to four million dollars to
continue construction next year. Whether we can get that, we don't
know.

That pretty well covers my part of the presentation on projects in my
area. I will turn it over to Ed for the other part.

Mr. Stapleton: Could we ask questions here, Robie?

Mr. Robins: Yes, now or when Ed gets through, either one of us.

-12-
