I

I

water over from Crystal River to the project area. Environmental and
other factors might dictate some change. We don't anticipate any-
thing of great magnitude on these alternates, but we think they should
be investigated.

Because of the fourteen-mile long tunnel and some of the other larger
aspects of the project, we anticipate it will take 6 to 8 years to
construct the West Divide project after we get construction funds.

(Slide) Now, we'll go to the Dallas Creek project which we are working
on quite actively at the present time. The Dallas Creek project was
authorized also in 1968. Work is now in progress on the definite plan
report and we have a goal to complete that definite plan report this
coming February, 1973. The conservancy district is pushing quite hard
to get construction started and there are possibilities of getting
construction funds this year or next for the project.

There have been significant changes in the project plan since it was
last discussed with this board.

On Ridgway reservoir, this is the present plan which \.!O nre studying
right now. Ridgway reservoir would be located on the Uncompahgre
River below the town of Ridgway. The highwater line would only come
up about in this area which would be thirteen miles below the town of
Ridgway. So we would not be inundating the town of Ridgway. The old
site was right across here and would inundate this valley right there.
We have moved the damsite for environmental reasons, as well as prac-
tical. The plan otherwise is quite similar to the surplus flows of
Dallas creek running over into Dallas Divide reservoir on Pleasant
Valley creek by a buried pipe conduit system over the top of Log Hill
Mesa. We have removed the pumping plant that we previously had at
the reservoir site. We now plan a smaller electric pumping plant in
Dallas creek to pump water up to Log Hill Mesa. The water from Dallas
Divide reservoir will be used for municipal and industrial purposes
in this area and a smaller amount for agriculture than we had before.

Ridgway pumping plant will be used primarily for municipal and indus-
trial water and the Dallas Divide reservoir gravity flow would be
used primarily for irrigation.

I want to point out that there have been several rather large land
developments taking place. This area up here on Log Hill Mesa which
was once project land is now being purchased for residential purposes.
Bill Wright, who was originally here from Denver, is developing that.

-10-
