<br />~ <br />hq4 <br /> <br />Specifically the Sub-committee passed a motion "to write <br />a letter to the Governor of the State of Colorado and the <br />Director of the State Water Conservation Board strongly <br />protesting the proposed investigation of the ground <br />water of the Closed Basin of the San Luis Valley <br />as aut~orized in House Bill No. 82." Brown - Sec'y. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />FEB/rms/818 <br /> <br />I have also received a copy of two <br />other resolutions, one adopted by <br />the Center Soil Conservancy District, <br />dated February 16, 1956, which <br />reads as foili1ows: <br /> <br />WHEREAS at the annual meeting of the Center Soil <br />Conservation District, a motion was unanimously <br />passed, that a resolution be published in the <br />local newspapers and a copy sent to several <br />water authorities, <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Center Soil Conservation District as a member <br />of the State and National Associations of Soil <br />Conservation Districts is responsible for the <br />protection and preservation of our Agricultural <br />Natural Resources, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS the Center Soil Conservation District is <br />specifically charged with the sacred responsibility <br />of conserving the soil and water of said <br />district for this generation and future <br />generations, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS the underground water of the Center Soil <br />Conservation District and other districts <br />throughout the San Luis Valley and the <br />State of Colorado is one of our most precious <br />Natural Resources, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS it is generally recognized that there is a <br />Closed Basin lying north of the Rio Grande River <br />and a large percentage of that basin lies <br />within the Center Soil Conservation District <br />and the waters thereof are not tributaries <br />to the Rio Grande River. <br /> <br />I <br />
