Finley <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />/s/ <br /> <br />Paul Filmlee <br />SECRETARY <br /> <br />On March 17, I received a letter from <br />the Secretary of the San Luis Valley <br />Farm Bureau, District 4, which reads <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Raphael J. Moses <br />626 4th Street <br />Alamosa, Colorado <br /> <br />Dear Mr. ~~oses: <br /> <br />The San Luis Valley Farm Bureau District #4 <br />at a meeting at Mosca, Colorado, lfarch 5, 1956, <br />adopted with the unanimous vote of the 54 <br />members present the following resolution: <br /> <br />vfuereas: - The underground waters of the San <br />Luis Valley have proven to be of great value <br />to the San Luis Valley during the period <br />of drought and, <br /> <br />~~ereas: - It is the belief of the San Luis <br />Valley Farm Bureau District #4 that the water <br />underlying the San Luis Valley is the property <br />of the land and the peoples thereof and, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Whereas: - By draining any of this underground <br />water either through wells or ditches will <br />undoubtedly cause inestimable harm to the water <br />table, land, and peoples of the San Luis Valley. <br /> <br />BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED ** <br />That we, the San Luis Valley Farm Bureau District <br />#4, very strongly oppose the taking of any <br />underground water to help supply water to the <br />lower Rio Grande River under the Rio Grande River <br />comp3. ct . <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED-- ; <br />That we oppose the pumping from or the draining <br />of any of the San Luis Valley specifically for the <br />p3.yment of the Rio Grande River comp3.ct water. <br />
