<br />. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />2) <br /> <br />Colorado State University Coooerative Extension (Delta) - Subsurface Micro-Irrigation for <br />Kabocha Squash <br />Authorization~ SB92-87 Grant: $37,760 <br />Progress Status: Complete County: Delta <br />Completion Date: 12/20/01 Grant Contact: Dr. Rick Zimmerman <br />Purpose: To compare subsurface micro-irrigation using different types of drip lines on <br />strawberry plants and Kabocha squash. <br /> <br />This project consists of comp~ring subsurface micro-irrigation using two types of buried drip lines to surface <br />methods of irrigation. During each irrigation, water use and soil moisture tension was recorded for all methods <br />to evaluate water use efficiency in terms of production. Soil moisture distribution and salinity levels were <br />monitored at three depths for each plot. <br /> <br />There has been a recent request for $50,000 of the remaining $81,000 grant fund to perform field tests on <br />the actual efficiency of the Best Management Practices (BMP's) developed by the GreenCo organization. <br /> <br />15. <br /> <br />Water Conservation Act <br />Authorization: HB 91- I 154 <br />Water Source: N/A <br />Location: Statewide <br />Sponsor: CWCB <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $500,000 <br />Project Type: Efficiency Demonstration <br />Project Manager: Brad Lundahl <br />Beneficiary: Statewide <br /> <br />The Colorado General Assembly, under HB 91-1154, established the Office of Water Conservation within the <br />CWCB. Part of the duties of the new office included: <br />I) Requiring state agencies to develop water conservation plans for state projects; <br />2) Requiring water providers that deliver more than 2,000 acre feet of water annually to develop water <br />conservation plans; <br />3) Administer grants for water efficiency demonstration projects for municipal/public agency projects. <br /> <br />The legislation authorized $500,000 from the CWCB construction fund with a maximum of $50,000 for each <br />grant. <br /> <br />From 199 I to present, the CWCB has awarded 32 grants for municipal water efficiency demonstration projects. <br />There are no pending projects at this time. <br /> <br />There is less than $ 1,000 remaining in this fund at this time and CWCB section staffwiII recommend reverting <br />the remaining monies back to the Construction Fund in order to close out this account. <br /> <br />16. Elkhead Reservoir Enlargement Proiect <br />Authorization: SB 01-157 Grant Amount: $500,000 <br />Water Source: Elkhead Creek Project Type: Environmental Compliance <br />Location: Elkhead Reservoir NE of Craig Managers: Mike Serlet 1 Dan McAuliffe <br />Sponsor: Colorado River Water Conservation DistrictBeneficiary: Statewide Water Users <br /> <br />This project is the application and acquisition of federal environmental permits regarding the enlargement of <br />Elkhead Reservoir located northeast of Craig. The environmental studies are complete as well as the <br />preliminary engineering report. The final 404-permit application has been submitted to the Corps of Engineers <br />for approval. The construction project is scheduled for construction commencing June 2004, with completion <br />scheduled for June 2006. The expenditures for this non-reimbursable portion of the project are complete. <br />
