The dam and reservoir was <br />transferred to O&M status on March 1, 1969. <br />storage in Turquoise Lake amounted to 34,893 <br />acre-feet on April 24, 1969. <br /> <br />The contract for construction of sub- I <br />grade and structures for the Denver and Rio . <br />Grande Western Railroad relocation in the <br />Pueblo Reservoir area was completed in January <br />of '69. <br /> <br />The Denver and Rio Grande Western Rail- <br />road is continuing installation of communica- <br />tion and signal equipment and is installing <br />ties preparatory to actual track laying <br />operations on the relocated line. <br /> <br />The contract for the State Highway No. <br />96 relocation at Pueblo Reservoir was executed <br />in March 1969 and the State Highway Depart- <br />ment expects to award the actual construction <br />contract later this spring. <br /> <br />Various transmission line and telephone <br />line relocations in Ruedi Reservoir, Turquoise <br />Reservoir, and Pueblo Reservoir are under way <br />or nearing completion. <br /> <br />Most of you know this, but recent re-' <br />visions in the fiscal year 1970 Bureau of <br />Reclamation BUdget now before Congressional <br />appropriation committees have reduced the <br />Fryingpan-Arkansas program by $7 million. <br />This reduction will cause a year's delay in <br />initial construction of Pueblo Dam itself <br />and the North Side Collection System on the <br />other side of the hill. <br /> <br />On the Upper Colorado River Storage I <br />Project, construction of the Midway Substa- <br />tion, south of Colorado Springs, is essential- <br />ly complete. Final inspections are under way <br />and testing of equipment will be accomplished <br />by May 1969. The substation will be placed in <br />service upon completion of equipment testing. <br />
