R. 6715, for authoriza- <br />tion of the Narrows unit has been introduced <br />in the House of Representatives by Congress- <br />men Aspinall, Rogers, and Evans. The Bureau <br />has been asked for a legislative report on <br />the bill so necessary revisions are being <br />made to bring cost and benefit data to <br />current price levels and reflect a change <br />in interest rate. Revised costs or bene- <br />fits have been received from the Corps of <br />Engineers, the National Park Service, .and <br />the Fish and Wildlife Service. The proposed <br />fish hatchery, to be located downstream from <br />the dam, is now included in the plan of <br />development. We are preparing a reevaluation <br />statement for the unit in anticipation of <br />Congressional hearings in Washington. <br /> <br />The Fryingpan-Arkansas Project. Con- <br />struction of Ruedi Dam is essentially com- <br />plete with only minor cleanup items remaining. <br />Storage in Ruedi Reservoir amounted to 52,759 <br />acre-feet on April 24, 1969. The land and <br />water areas will be open to recreationists <br />and fishermen this spring. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The contract for construction of South <br />Fork and Chapman Tunnels, Diversion Dams, <br />and appurtenant structures of the South <br />Side Collection System is essentially com- <br />plete. The contractor for the Divide Tunnel <br />is continuing normal tunneling operations <br />and the heading as of April 21, 1969, was <br />1,696 feet from the west portal. At the con- <br />tractor's present rate of progress, he should <br />'hole-through' by July 1, 1969. <br /> <br />Construction of Sugar Loaf Dam is <br />
