I

MR. KROBGBR I

I

MR. CORHBL!US I

MR. 'l'IlOMAS I

MR. CORNBLIUS I

we can on the construction of this dam. We
completed the Stage II earthwork. The em-
bankment in the valley is up to about
elevation 5418. When you get on the hill
out there and look at it it doesn't look very
high. There is an awful lot of dirt thougl1
that has been moved down there in the valley.
The revised budget for FY 1970. as submitted
by President Nixon. has called for funds for
Chatfield of about $1 million as compared
to $12 million which originally was pro-
gramed for that dam. That is construction
money for this fiscal year 1970 coming up.
The effect of this will be a one-year delay
in the Stage III earthwork and subsequently
a one-year delay in the closure and project
completion. This puts it over about, I
believe, :in 1975.

Last fall, I think it was in November,
we received authorization from Congress for
the Mount Carbon Project on Bear Creek. It
looks as if in the budget this year, there
will be about $150,000 for preconstruction
planning on the Mount Carbon Dam. We will
initiate detailed surveys, hydrology, and
foundation investigations with this $150.000
preconstruction plann.i.ng money.

Those are the items that we have been
working on and are working on here in Colo-
rado.

I thank you and I'll answer any ques-
tions that you might have."

"Are there questions you would like to
ask the Corps of Engineers, Omaha District?"

"Do you have any idea how many second
feet you can pass by Chatfield now without
damage?"

"Right now?"

"Yes."
