I

meet firm commitments. Powerplants at
Fontenelle, at Flaming Gorge, at Blue Mesa
on the Curecanti Unit in Colorado, and at
Glen canyon will be running wide open to take
care of the expected load of one million kilo-
watts of firm obligations.

The total capability of all the power-
plants is expected to rise to an all time
high of 1,100,000 kilowatts this year as the
reservoirs reach their greatest storage
levels so far. Any surplus generation that
is available due to the greater elevations
can be used for reserves and to assist ,other
power systems should they experience problems.

In Colorado, the Bureau has completed
storage project contracts with 23 wholesale
customers who retail to consumers in their
distribution areas. This represents over 25
percent of our firm power contracts with
systems in the seven-state marketing area.

Power from additional plants at Morrow
Point, Crystal, and Central Utah will be
used as soon as the new facilities are oper-
able over the next several years.

Current studies indicate that all power
to be produced by units of the Upper Colorado
River Storage Project will be utilized by
preference customers during the next 10 years
or by 1979. In that time we expect to have
over 1-1/3 million kilowatts of firm power
under contract with these preference customers
who by law have first call on the output of
the federal plants.

I

Power revenues continue to expand with
the increase in power sales. Annual receipts
now stand at $19 million and the overall out-
look for repayment is considered to be
progressing at a satisfactory pace. Present
repayment studies show that all costs charge-
able to power will be completely repaid in
