"r,tr. Chairman, members of the Board, ladies
and gentlemen, ~tr. Redmond and I are very
happy to be here with you and we feel that we
have significant progress to report by compari-
oon with the information which we provided at
your meeting in Canon City on the 12th of I1ay.

Our report covers four aspects. First of
all, in the construction area our progress..in
regard to our real estate acquisition for Trini-
dad Reservoir and our ochedule for construction.
Secondly, the status of our preconstruction
planning for the Las Animas Local Protection
Project. Third, a generalized report on the
preauthorization planning for the ADcansas
River below John Uartin. Fourth, and most
opecifically, the report on our study on the
plan of improvement of the Arkansas above John
Hartin Dam.

In regard to the Trinidad Reservoir Proj-
ect \-le have established a real estate suboffice
in the City Hall at Trinidad in order to carry
out the land acquisition program. We are in
the proceso of carrying out negotiations with
the owners of the land required for the initial
project construction which will involve tile
outlet \-/orJ:s. We have started the appraisal of
the real estate for the remainder of the project
lands. When vie reach the community of Sopris,
the appraisals covering this community will,
and this is yet several months in the future,
bring into focus the problem of resettling the
inhabitants in tilat area which will have to be
acquired.
