FETCHER: I will try. <br />goes on record to support <br />modification. <br /> <br />My motion was to the effect that this board <br />fundamental research in the field of weather <br /> <br />MR. SHERMAN: So the motion is silent on the matter of funding. <br /> <br />MR. FETCHER: I would think so. <br /> <br />MR. KROEGER: Are we ready to vote? All in favor of the motion? (Ayes.) <br />Those opposed? <br /> <br />MR. VANDEMOER: NO. <br /> <br />MR. KROEGER: It is carried. And let it show that Herb Vandemoer voted <br />"No" on that. <br /> <br />We are running past noon a little bit, but I though~ perhaps we could get <br />through. Are there any plans for lunch, Larry? <br /> <br />(Off the record discussion re: luncheon arrangements.) <br /> <br />MR. KROEGER: Well, I think we can get through. <br /> <br />Are there any further comments in regard to the Director's Report? <br />Frank? <br /> <br />MR. AKERS: No. <br /> <br />MR. KROEGER: All right, is there any other business that we should <br />consider? <br /> <br />MS. ORTEGA: I am Sandy Ortega, and I am a representative of the Save <br />Our Water campaign that is being put together in the San Luis Valley in <br />opposition to the San Marcus pipeline. <br /> <br />Presently, they are conducting tests, and they are pumping more than 43 <br />gallons of top quality water that is the basis of our lives. And I am <br />just here to ask for your support as people and residents of the state <br />of Colorado. <br /> <br />MR. KROEGER: Felix, can you comment on that? <br /> <br />MR. SPARKS: The Legislature passed a bill last session on the subject <br />of taking water out of state. There is at least one other bill pending <br />in this current session of the Legislature where they are trying to put <br />a handle on it. There is litigation going on also about the San Marcus <br />scheme. I can't tell you what is going to happen. It's largely going <br />to be up to the Legislature and up to the courts down there. There is <br />not much this board can do at this point. We have requested the Attorney <br />General to intervene on behalf of the State of Colorado in the pending <br />litigation. <br /> <br />-37- <br />
