"It has been duly moved and seconded that
the Attorney's report be approved as filed. All
those in favor will signify by saying 'aye';

The last item on the agenda is the Direc-
tor's report."

"Gentlemen, all items on the Director's
report have been covered except two. There is
no point of my reporting on anything but those
two and I will do so very briefly.

We'll go first to the power marketing and
transmission criteria. Mr. Jennings has already
reported that the Bureau has completed its
studies and made its recommendation to the Sec-
retary of the Interior concerning the construc-
tion of transmission lines. At this date no
information is available as to what is contained
in those recommendations or as to any possible
action by the Secretary of the Interior. Un-
doubtedly whatever is done will not be popular
in all circles since a considerable controversy I
always exists in connection with the construc-
tion of federal transmission lines. Rumor has
it (and that's all it is, strictly rumor, I
read it in the papers the same as you did per-
haps) that the recommendation is for an all-
federal transmission system. Whether that's
true or not, I have absolutely no knowledge.
