2268

earth moved. On his knees before the Pope, he
said 'Galileo swears that the earth doesn't
move, but nevertheless it does'.

Now Larry Sparks has said that the Blue
River-South Platte Project is dead and I guess
it is. Mr. John Barnard, Sr. said there is no I-
water on the western slope to be diverted over
here and I think he thinks there is. But the
facts are, there are 750,000 acre feet of water
on the western slope and, if not diverted into
the South Platte basin, California's going to
get it, for the western slope does not have the
lands nor the industry to put that water to
use.

Thank you."

MR. I am sure Mr. Bunger will agree
with me on that.

There was a representative from the City
of Littleton here and I have forgotten his
name."

MR. STAPLETON:

"Mr. Williams is here from Littleton."

MR. MILLER:

"Mr. Williams. It seems to me he is an
author and an authority on water."

MR. STAPLETON:

"Do you have any comments, Mr. Williams?"

MR. A. N. WILLIAMS: "No. That's my son who is the author.
But I have a great interest in the Platte
River. My grandfather homesteaded the place
I live on in 1862, near Littleton. Speaking
as an individual with no official capacity, I
would like to see this thing take in the whole
of, the Platte basin especially at the Narrows.
I think that we have got to take the bull by
the horns and really take care of what water
we now have.

I
