Progress Report of Surveys

In your folder you will find copies of two
reports, one from the Bureau of Business
Research at the University which indicates
there has been some slight trouble between
that office and this one, but the trouble
has all be ironed out. That contract is
40-45 percent complete. There has been
some deley and it will not be possible for
the Uni versi ty to finish on time. There
,is a claus~,however, which permits this
Board to make an extension of time and the
University has called for an extension to
October 1. Yesterday the Conference Committee
met and recommended to this Board that the
time limit be extended from September 1 until
October 1. The October 1 date was set by the
University people themselves. I should like
to move that the extension be granted.

It has been moved and seconded that the
completion time be extended to October 1.
Any questions? All in favor say "Aye".
Motion cHrried.

The second contractor, Leeds, Hill and Jewett
are well started on the work. They have one
man who has space in my office, another man
on the Western Slope studying oil shale. The
principals themselves have been spending about
1/2 of their time here in the State. Mr. Jewett
is here now and Mr. Hill will be here next month.
They have spent most of their time on land
classification up to this time, and water studies
carried on by their Los Angeles office. At the
present time, they are making trips to get
acquainted with the area throughout the western
slope. That's all there is to report now.

What about the invitation to the oil companies?

We might just as well go ahead with that now.

The Conference Committee met yesterday and decided
it really should have some meetings at other places
in the State. It recow~ended that we hold one
meeting of the Conference Committee on the 24 of
September in Glenwood Springs, anc at that meeting
