BAILEY: <br /> <br />resolution is directed to your attention by <br />terms of the resolution itself, passed 1 JuJy <br />1953 by the Board'of Directors of the Colorado <br />S~ate Association of REA Cooperatives meeting <br />at Denver. This Board is composed of a representa- <br />tive of each rural electric cooperative belonging <br />to the Association. RESOLUTION: VffiEREAS, the <br />construction of Wagon lVheel Gap Dam and Reservoir <br />on the Upper Rio Grande, a portion of the <br />San Luis Valley Project authorized by the <br />Congress in 1940, would be of great economic <br />value to the San Luis Valley and the State of <br />Colorado through benefits for irrigation, <br />flood control, generation of power, fish and <br />wildlife preservation and allied benefits. <br />AND WHEREAS, the proposed report of the Bureau <br />of Reclamation contemplates the installation <br />of facilities for the generation of electric <br />energy, A~~ WHEREAS, large amounts of power <br />are now imported into the area to be served <br />by the hydroelectric facilities of Wagon \Vheel <br />Gap Dam, which imported power can well be <br />utilized in other areas of Colorado nearer to <br />its source. M~D ~~1EREAS, the construction of <br />Wagon Wheel Gap Dam and reservoir would furnish <br />needed additional hydroelectric power and the <br />more efficient distribution of existing power. <br />NOW, THF~~ORE, Be It Resolved by the Board of <br />Directors of the Colorado Association of Rural <br />Electric Cooperatives that the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board, the Governor of the State <br />of Colorado, the Colorado Congressional delega- <br />tion and the Secretary of the 'Interior, be <br />urged to approve said proposed report, facilitate <br />the adoption of the necessary enabling legislation, <br />if apy be required, and expedite the appropriation <br />of funds for the construction of said Wagon 7llieel <br />Gap Dam, power plant and reservoir." <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Any question on any of these items in #4? <br /> <br />We are ready to go on to #5. <br /> <br />I <br />
