1076

the Study Commission would go about making this study. Mr.
Barnard, Sr. replied that that study must be completed before
the 1st of January, 1959; that it will involve a number of
angles and decisions on the different phases necessary to the I
completion of the filling of this reservoir and the study . .
must proceed along those lines. Mr. Glenn Saunders also ans-
wered Mr. Stapleton's question by saying that work would be
coordinated with the Upper Colorado River Coromission. In
addition there would be needed the assignment of engineers
and legally trained men to work on what our rights are, etc.;
that the wording has been very carefully worked out so that
it would be in very clear language and not ambiguous.

MR. STAPLETON:

"How long would it be before this
Board would be asked to employ person-
nel?"

MR. SAUNDERS:

"I think it should not be before two
or three ],reeks."

After further discussion regarding travel expenses
for the commissioners and other expenses that may be incurred
before the date of the Board's next meeting, September 10th,
it was suggested that a resume be presented to the Board of
everything the Study Commission had accomplished. Mr. Moses
asked if the Board wished to meet before September lOth. in
order to ratify the Study Commission's proposed program.

MR. BARNARD, JR.: "1 would amend the motion to read
that this committee be instructed to
draft a resolution approving the pro-
posal of this letter and the appoint-
ment of a commission and direct them
to proceed as rapidly as possible with
this proposal.

Would you approve that amendment,
Mr. Christy?"

]{R. CHRISTY: "1 would accept the drafting of that
motion to clarify it with the idea you
are going to appoint this commission
and then accept their offer."

I

~ffi. BARNARD, SR.: "This:thing of the filling of the
Glen Canyon Reservoir is so vital that
I hope this Board will take whatever
action is necessary on this Commission
today so that the work on the Glen Can-
yon can start tomorrow morning and pro-
ceed as expeditiously as possible."
