I

MRS. KEATING:

MR. ODELL:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. ODELL:
I MR. STAPLETON:
MR. ODELL:

MR. 1'1000:

..J.;;'I,J

Development in the Northern Part of Colorado
High Plains', was just delivered to the Colorado
Nater Board. This is released as Ground Water
Circular No.8. There are some rather startling
things revealed in this report, particularly in
regard to the amount of water that Colorado is
presenting to Kansas and Nebraska. We were
rather pleased that we got an OK to put a little
serious humor on the last page of this report
in color yet. This is something unusual for
the staid Survey to put an OK on a publication
of that kind. We brought just a few copies of
that report with us and if people are interested
in it they can examine it or, as far as they go,
we could pass those out. Mrs. Keating told me
that she would mail copies to the members of the
Board so they'll get their copies later on. If
there aren't enough here to go around I believe
they can be requested from the Nater Board for
what - 25<: mailing and handling fee?"

UYes, sir.1I

"This report indicates there is considerable
underground flow from this High Plains area to
Kansas and Nebraska. Perhaps someone may want
to take a little tip from the Israelites. In
their development of water in Israel I understand
they have a line of pumps in there, next to the
ocean, to pump out the last drop of fresh water
they possibly can before it gets into the sea.
Maybe we could treat Kansas and Nebraska that
way."

"Thank you, Mr. Odell. Is Mr. Leonard Ivood
wi th you today?"

"Yes, he's here."

"vlould you like to introduce him, please?"

"We have a new District Geologist in Denver
for our Ground Water Branch, Mr. Leonard Wood,
and I'd like to introduce him at this time."

"Thank you."
