I

the Commissioner. Also on this project, with the
money advanced by the state, we have initiated
certain studies on the Missouri Heights Reservoir
for the potential Basalt Project. We have done
preliminary drilling at the damsite and also in
the reservoir area. I am sorry to report that
our investigations to date are not too favorable
at this damsite. The trouble is not at the dam
itself but rather in the reservoir area. We
have encountered some salt flows in the reservoir
area that are extremely porous. It's a question
of determining the nature and the extent of this
formation to see if it could be remedied by
blanketing or other means.

There is no change in the status of our
Animas-La Plata Project, or the Dolores Project.
Nothing new on our Savery-pot Hook, Fruitland
Mesa or Bostwick Park Projects. We are still
hopeful that additional hearings will be held on
those. Substantially the same on San Miguel.
No change on West Divide from that previously
reported. We are making good progress on the
Dallas Creek Project, Yellow Jacket and Battle-
ment Mesa.

Coming to this other project, we do want to
eliminate that phrase of 'limited extent' on the
Grand Mesa project, Pete, because we are going
ahead on that project.

I

The only remaining activity then in this re-
port is our Small Reclamation Project at Orchard
City. I think this is the first small reclamation
project in the State of Colorado and the engineers
for the Orchard City Irrigation District are
presently negotiating for a power rate for their
pumping plant, or source of energy for the pumping
plant for this project. We feel that that is the
first step they must accomplish and they are busy
negotiating principally with the gas company for a
source of energy for this project.

I believe that completes the report. If
there are any questions I'll be happy to try and
answer them."
