I

I

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. JENNINGS:

water problems in Colorado. It's only because
this particular project has had adequate storage
and has been able to carryover water storage in
other years that they are the one bright spot in
the water picture in Colorado this year. I do
think this is an important point. I don't think
we have to tell you people this, you recognize
it. This is the thing that struck me most force-
fully about this whole report - that in this
horrible year One area has a 100% water supply."

"Thank you, Len.

We will now turn to Region 4 and their report.
Bob, will you make that report please? Bob
Jennings."

"Mr. Chairman, members of the Water Board,
ladies and gentlemen, my report will follow sub-
stantially the written report that is in the files
of the Board members and copies of it are on the
table here for other persons present.

Before I get into the report I would like to
point out that there are a couple of errors in
the report that I'll mention as we go along.

I'll first take up the construction progress;
first on the Storage Units, then on the partici-
pating projects, and then go into the investiga-
tion program.

On Glen Canyon Dam \~e expect that the dam
will be topped out in August. This brings me to
the first error in the report. Instead of
150,000 cubic yards left to be placed in the dam,
there is actually only 30,000 left to be placed
in the dam proper. As of last Friday there re-
mained to be made 41 placements. Now in addition
to the concrete in the dam itself we have yet to
place in the trashrack structure 4,600 cubic yards
and in the elevator tower 900.

Storage of water in Lake powell, as you know,
began on March 13, 1963. Lake Powell now stretches
more than 108 miles upstream from Glen Canyon Dam
and on June 14th there was 1,804,000 acre-feet of
