and Paonia was one of those casualties
this year. At the time the Paonia went
up we did not have the required report
from the Agricultural Department but that
has now been completed and we are ready
to go ahead as soon as we get the appro-
priations. We must realize that there are
a number of other projects waiting appro-
priations that will be given priority
which may mean the postponement of new
starts in some cases.

I would like to have Mr. Larson re-
port in detail on the Colorado projects
under construction because I don't think
many of you realize how fortunate Colorado
has been, particularly Western Colorado,
on potential projects. As a matter of
fact, in reviewing the projects we have
had, we are completely at a loss to find
any project where some kind of a report
,,-,has not been made."

"Thank you, Mr. Dexheimer. Mr. Larson
would you care to make your report at this
time?"

"I might say this. At the time of
the hearings in Congress, when the Cure-
canti unit was authorized we testified
that our investigative work indicated
that we had a feasible unit but we would
have to determine whether we needed two,
three or four dams. We had an appropria-
tion of $46,000 with which we hoped to
complete the report by June of this year.
The cost of producing power at the Cure-
canti was very high so that when we began
our detail investigation we ran into more
difficulty on costs and began to work around
to seek the best possible solution. We are
now down to where we will have the compare
the Possibility of construction of earth
or concrete dams and at different sites.

We are making a study using all the
power head from the Mesa Dam on down to
the Crystal. We have the Narrow Gauge site
to look into. We also have the Morrow Point.
