received from the Colorado River Conservation District at
the ~ay 8th meeting of the Board asking for a new Bureau
of Reclamation regional office in the Colorado River Basin.
He also reminded them that letters had been sent to each of
our Congressional Delegation and the Upper Colorado River
Commission enclosing a copy of this Resolution. After
being contacted by members of our Congressional Delegation,
Secretary Seaton had replied directly to him in answer and
he read that letter which outlined reasons why such a region
would not be created. (See Appendix C).

Dean Crawford also said that this matter was dis-
cussed at the last meeting of the Upper Colorado River Com-
mission and met with opposition. He pointed out that this
same matter was discussed at the very first meeting of the
Commission and was also opposed at that time.

MR. CRAWFORD:

"I don't believe any action is nec-
essary at this time on this item. Item
#7 on the agenda is the program for the
next meeting of the Board."

"The matter I believe we should dis-
cuss now is the matter the Governor sug-
gested this morning, the calling of a
water congress some time this Fall."

After a general discussion on this matter, the.
following motion was made:

"I move that the Board communicate
with the Governor and find out exactly,
in writing, what he would like to have
a water congress cover."

"I would suggest that you amend that
motion not to have the Governor put his
views in writing but that he meet with
the Board and give us his ideas on a
water congress."

"I. would be glad to amend the motion
to read to have the Director meet with
the Governor and get his opinion and
aims of the suggested water congress and
bring them back to this Board for any
action by the Board."
