"Are there any questions to be
asked Mr. Sweet pertaining to his

Mr, McCandless are you ready to ~
give your report on the ~niper Project?"

"It seems a very good time to talk
about the Juniper Project. I have felt
that it has been very much neglected.
I have prepared these brochures which
I will have passed around." (See Appen-
dix Ai).

MR. McCANDLESS:

Mr. McCandless presented the case for the Juniper
Project. He read a paragraph from a letter which he had
received from Governor Clyde and also presented a Resolu-
tion from the Colorado Game and Fish Department. (See
Appendix Aii). Dean Crawford asked that letters and Reso-
lutions received in his office urging this project be put
in the record. (See Appendix Aiii).

Governor Johnson also spoke on this project and
urged the Board to give official approval to the Juniper
Project at this meeting. He said that the Yampa and White
Basins provide 25~ of the water that goes to Lee Ferry and
is divided there and there had never been any kind of a
project on either of these two rivers. He asked that the
Board give approval to some project on these rivers.

MR. PETERSON:

"Does anyone else have anything to
say on the Juniper Project?"

"What is the status of the report?"

"There has been a reconnaissance
study made."

Mr. Larson said that in the Bureau's program for
fiscal year '59 $56,400 has been included for the Juniper
Project. Mr. Peterson asked if there was any way to have
it put in in '58 but was told by Mr. Larson that it would
be impossible since the Bureau could not switch funds.
