"In regard to the Curecanti, in the
authorizing legislation we are not per-
mitted to go ahead until and unless the
Secretary can certify to a feasible plan."

~vhen you came before the Committee,
you testified the plan was feasible. Now
we find out the plan is not feasible. We
have been led to understand one thing and
now we are learning another. It is embar-
assing to us to say the least."

"It is embarassing to us to present a
plan and find that when we get into a more
detailed study the cost estimates have
gone up."

"When your office submitted bids for
Glen Canyon did you find out they were
under bidding your estimates. b:f:'$25; 000, OOO?"

mNe all know, Governor Johnson particu-
larly, that water doesn't run up hill.
These other things need to be done but we
also have to go ahead with this Colorado
program. There will be other meetings
held here soon too because many of our
programs, even Paonia, may be affected.
Based upon power rates and standards we
may lose some of the projects that effect
the welfare and future of this State."

"I would like to ask Mr. Larson what
can be done, either through State contri-
bution or Federal Government aid to com-
plete the Curecanti in the summer of
1958."

"We could accomplish the work in one
season if we had another $35,000 -to
$39,000."

"If you had $35,000 from the State of
Colorado would it be completed in '58?"

"Now please don't misunderstand me -
I am not here asking for money - :but I
believe it could be."
