Because of funds being spread on several proj- <br />ects and the limitations imposed on the transfer of funds in <br />this fiscal year's program, it has been necessary to resche- <br />dule the reports for early in F. Y. 1959. <br /> <br />Dolores Project. Since completion of the May, 1954 <br />status report a topographic sUrvey has been made of the McPhee <br />Reservoir site and about 50 percent of the detailed land <br />classification has been completed. The Bureau of Indian Af- <br />fairs is contributing to the cost of the investigation as <br />about 10 percent of the project lands are expected to be Indian <br />Tribal lands. Bids were opened September 24 for the photo- <br />grammetric mapping of the remaining unclassified project lands. <br />Completion of the feasibility report is scheduled for F. Y. 1960. <br /> <br />Animas-La Plata Project. Available funds and personnel <br />in the Durango Development Office have been insufficient to ad- <br />vance the detailed investigation appreciably since completion <br />of the November 1954 status report. To speed up the investiga- <br />tion, the State of Colorado is this year contributing $20,000 <br />and the local people have contributed another $5,610. Topo- <br />graphy for Teft Dam site and for a portion of the project lands <br />res been obtained by contract. Bids were opened September 24 <br />for the photogrammetric mapping of the remaining project land <br />areas. Detailed land classification work will be undertaken <br />this year concurrently with Dolores Project, following com- <br />pletion of the Florida and Pine River Project Extension land <br />classification work. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Completion of the feasibility report is scheduled for <br />F. Y. 1961 or 1962. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is financing <br />23 percent of the cost of the investigation which is the pro- <br />portion of Indian land in the present irrigable area of the <br />project. <br /> <br />West Divide Project. Detailed topography on a portion of <br />the land area is being obtained under contract by the State of <br />Colorado with Bureau forces providing the field checks and in- <br />spection work. Initiation of detailed land classification <br />surveys is awaiting completion of the topography and the avail- <br />ability of field personnel from the Silt Project. Preliminary I <br />studies are being made of potential alternatives and modifi- <br />cations to the plan to see if the present marginal economic <br />justification can be improved. <br /> <br />San <br />Dolores, <br />ects, no <br />report. <br /> <br />Mi9Uel Pro~ect.
