"Fred. in that case. I will have our
staff get on with it immediately. We've
been aware of this problem, but not to the
extent that you just mentioned here. Fred."

MR. KROEGER:

been loose figures!"

MR. SPARKS:

"What we can do immediately is to review
the operating procedures for the whole sys-
tem. Perhaps we can come up with a recommend-
ation which will take care of the problem.
The fact that storage occurs in Navajo during
the summer does not necessarily preclude
getting Lake Powell to the operating head at
some future time. What I mean is that if we
can time the releases from Navajo during the
winter months, the water can still go on
down to Glen Canyon and could be replaced in
Navajo the following spring.

I think this is a problem which the
Upper Colorado River Commission staff would
also be interested in. We will get together
with that staff and with Region 4 to see if
some plan can be worked out immediately which
would permit a greater filling of the reser-
voir during this year. You can expect to
hear from us very shortly on that, Dave."
