I

the Bureau of Reclamation. we are going to
miss his services a great deal. He has been
a stalwart as far as Region 4 is concerned.
Someone probably from the Grand Junction
office will be appointed acting after Bob
leaves which is slated in April. until such
time as the selection for a replacement is
made.

Gentlemen. on our construction program
we have completed the powerplant and it is
now commercial at Blue Mesa. the last unit
was completed in November. The Blue Mesa
Reservoir has been found as one of the out-
standing recreation areas both winter and
summer in Colorado. We've had a lot of
skimobile activity there and the ice fishing.
I understand. is quite outstanding for those
of you who want to indulge in that sport.

I was in Montrose yesterday and they had
some pictures of their catches of nice rain-
bow trout and it was pretty hard to leave
under those circumstances.

Morrow Point Dam is now substantially
completed. The last bucket of concrete was
placed in September and water storage was
started behind Morrow Point Dam early in
January. All of the major electrical
machinery for the underground powerplant
has been procured. Some of it is at the
site. some of it is being fabricated and
some of it is in storage in Japan.

I

Construction work has been substantially
completed on the Salida to Midway section of
the Curecanti-Midway transmission line and
Rifle-Midway substations are expected to be
finished this summer. I understand that
we're taking steps to energize the Midway
substation at 230.

Work is continuing on the modification
of the outlet works and stilling pool at
Navajo Dam. There was some severe erosion
