Water Plan for Private Well Owners <br /> <br />This year, the Authority again requested $25,000 from EI Paso County to complete three <br />additional projects, but again only $17,000 was awarded. <br /> <br />1999 Proposed Technical Studies <br />. Water Import Projects <br />. Water Reuse <br />. Synergistic Projects with the City of Colorado Springs <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Because of the budget reductions and problems in committing funds, all of the proposed <br />technical studies except the inventory were postponed to 1999. The Authority would like to begin _ <br />the studies as soon as any funds might become available. Brief descriptions of these proposed _ <br />technical studies are given in the Authority's 1999 budget request to the county, attached to this <br />memo. The CWCB staff has not provided input to the plan of study or detailed cost estimates for <br />any of the technical studies. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />I recommend that the Board consider a grant of up to $75,000 over a 3-year period from <br />any funds available to the Board from the Severance Tax Trust Fund Operational Account <br />provided that: <br /> <br />a. the staff can work with the EI Paso County Water Authority to assure the plan of study for <br />the technical studies is defined to produce a set of quality products through an effective <br />process at reasonable cost, and <br /> <br />b. the MEGA Board concurs with the proposal. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Attachment <br /> <br />L:\BOARDMEMIJAN99Il6c - El Paso County <br /> <br />2 <br />
