CWCB North Fork
7/5/2005
Page 4

See Figure 1 and Table 1.

7. Estimate potential future land uses in the reaches affected by the ISF filings. Future
land uses will be used as a basis for estimating potential water demands. Outreach
will be conducted to the towns and counties and activities coordinated with the North
Fork Steering Committee. Working with the county planners, existing and potential
future land uses will be mapped and inventoried.

Completion:
Assignment:

August 1
CRWCD/CDM/CWCB

STATUS: GIS coverages of land uses were obtained from counties and
supplemented with other information as noted below. Follow up discussions with
county and local planners and officials will be needed to determine the potential
for future development of existing irrigated and non-irrigated agricultural lands.
See attached CDM memo for discussion and analysis of land uses.

8. Develop a proposed approach and draft language designed to preserve the ability for
future known water uses to be senior to proposed CWCB ISF rights. This proposal will
be reviewed by CWCB staff to determine if a consensus recommendation can be made
on this issue.

Completion:
Assignment:

September 1
Division Engineer and CRWCD

STATUS: Pending

9. Project future water demands. Using the estimates of potential future land uses
provided in Task 7, projections of future water demands will be made. Existing water
demand studies, to the extent provided by counties, towns, conservancy 1 conservation
districts, and others will be reviewed and used as a basis for demand projects, if
appropriate. An overall water balance will be used to estimate the net change in
demands as existing irrigated lands may be converted to residential or other uses.

Completion:
Assignment:

September 1
CDM (CWCB)

STATUS: Future water demand spreadsheet has been completed and estimates of
potential future water demands will be made after consultation on future land uses
with county and local officials, Division Engineer and CRWCD.

10. Outreach to local landowners and water users. The purpose of the outreach will be to
inform landowners and water rights holders of the need to file water rights

S :\GI S\working\Jinal_ memo\CW CB _ N _Fork070505.doc
