~vv~

I

The Savery-Pot Hook Project report has
been submitted to the Secretary of the Inter-
ior some six months ago. We promptly sub-
mitted our comments under the Flood Control
Act to the Secretary of the Interior on that
project but the State of Wyoming did not.
Since it involves both Colorado and Wyoming,
they are participants in that project.
Recently, however, the State of Wyoming did
submit its comments and they were favorable.
Then without warning, or as far as we knew,
of notice to anyone, a Bill was introduced by
a Senator from Wyoming in the Congress to
authorize that project. I have not seen the
Bill. My first knowledge of it came from our
Congressional delegation and they were caught
unawares also. I expect that that Bill is in
the office today since I requested copies of
it by air mail for an analysis. If the Bill
is satisfactory, we will ask our Senators
and our Congressmen to introduce companion
bills also. There is no chance, of course,
of getting any authorization this session of
Congress, but we anticipate that at the be-
ginning of the next session of Congress in
January of 1961 that we will drive for the
authorization and immediate construction of
that project.

It is possible also, at the next session
of Congress, that we may have the Bostwick
Park and Fruitland Mesa Projects ready for
authorization. If so, that means that we will
have four projects for authorization in the
next session of Congress which is a pretty
large order. They are the Fryingpan-Arkan-
sas, the Savery-Pot Hook, the Fruitland Mesa
and the Bostwick Park.

I

For construction funds at the next
session we are hopeful that the Silt Project,
which is already an authorized project, will
be ready although it is somewhat doubtful.
In any event, we have hopes that we can get
construction funds for the Silt Project dur-
ing the next session of Congress.

You will recall that when we toured the
Collbran and Paonia Projects areas last sum-
'mer, some of you took a side trip to the
Redlands Mesa area in Delta County. That
