Colorado River Matters, Endangered Fish Recovery Program, Steamboat Lake <br /> <br /> <br />There was no discussion on this item since it was rernoved frorn the agenda. <br /> <br />12(d)(2). Colorado River Matters, Endangered Fish Recovery Program, Request for an <br />additional 10,000 acre-feet from Ruedi Reservoir (5532-end, tape 1 and 0-760, tape 2) <br /> <br />Margot Zallen, U.S. Solicitor's Office, made a presentation to the Board. Discussion <br />followed by all CWCB members present. Comments were rnade by Tom Gibbons <br />frorn the USBR Loveland Projects Office, John Hamill of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife <br />Service, and George Smith of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The discussion was <br />continued to Friday afternoon. <br /> <br />16. Water Salvage: study of effects of federal programs (776-3132, tape 2) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Steve Miller, CWCB staff, outlined progress on the legislative requirement to prepare <br />a report on potential water salvage opportunities in the Grand Valley. Discussion <br />followed by Danielson, Harrison, Jackson, Eisel, and Salazar. A motion was rnade by <br />Salazar and seconded by Harrison to direct the staff to prepare two reports for <br />consideration at the next meeting. One report should focus on the specific alternatives <br />to resolve the Grand Valley issues requested by the legislature. The other report <br />should be a second draft that incorporates Board member comments and has a broad <br />perspective, including agricultural runoff and management, non-point source pollution, <br />and wetland irnpacts. The motion passed by unanimous (7-0) decision. <br /> <br />14. <br /> <br />Federal Clean Water Act Reauthorization - implications for water development and <br />management (3140-3542, tape 2) <br /> <br />Greg Hobbs, Attorney for Northern WCD, reported on the implications for Colorado <br />of the subject proposed federal legislation. Discussion followed by all CWCB <br />members present. The consensus was that staff should follow future progress of S1081 <br />and to keep the Board informed. <br /> <br />12( d)(3). Colorado River Matters, Endangered Fish Recovery Program, Recommendations <br />for Flows in the 15 mile reach during October-June (3571-5110, tape 2) <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Gene Jencsok, CWCB staff, presented background information and a draft federal <br />report on the issue. Discussion followed by Eisel, Salazar, and other CWCB <br />mernbers. Peter Evans, DNR staff attorney, also comrnented. The consensus was that <br />staff should prepare a preliminary review of the report, a schedule that outlines the <br />steps and time frame for reviewing and acting on the report, and a list of issues or <br />comments or suggestions for dealing with potential problems in the report for <br />consideration at the next meeting. <br /> <br />5 <br />
