.

.

.

The CWCB has been heavily involved with providing technical assistance to Otis. This goal of
this particular effort is to produce a new floodplain delineation study for a tributary that has caused past
flooding in portions of the cormmmity. New hydrologic analyses were established to re-defme the peak
flows coming into tOWll. The draft floodplain delineation study has been completed and submitted to the
tOWll. Once that study has been finalized and accepted by the tOWll, the consultant will present the
reconnaissance study, which outlines various flood hazard mitigation options for the south side of Otis.

6. Alamosa-La Jara Water Conservancv District - Field Survev and Hvdraulic Aualvsis
Authorization: LongBiIl GrantAmount: $16,000
Water Source: N/A Type: Field survey & hydraulic analysis
Location: Alamosa River in & around Capulin Project Manager: Brian Hyde

This project is funding the necessary field surveys to provide hydraulic cross-sections for a 5-mile
reach of the Alamosa River in and around Capulin and the completion of a hydraulic analysis of flooding
conditions in that stream reach. The reach is the subject of a separate CWCB grant for the design and
construction of stream restoration improvements. The hydraulic analysis will determine the flow capacity
of the existing stream channel and bridges. In the future, modifications designed as part of the stream
restoration project can be tested hydraulically prior to construction by simply modifying the hydraulic
model. The field surveys have been completed and the hydraulic analysis has been conducted.

7.

South Platte Diversion Structure Inventory Proiect
Authorization: Long Bill
Water Source: South Platte
Location: Weld County

Grant Amount: $30,465
Project Typ~: Structure Inventory
Project Manager; Tim Feehan

The Colorado Water Conservation Board is currently evaluatiug the existing condition of various
diversion structures along the South Platte River. The limits of the diversion structure inventory project
within the South Platte Basin are from the City of Henderson to the State Line. The information being
obtained in the field include visual site inspection of the structure, documentation ofthe structure
condition, type, and size, digital photos, GPS coordinates, and repair/replacement costs where warranted.
The final product developed will be used as a marketing tool by the Water Supply, Planning, and Finance
Section staff to inform various ditch companies of the condition oftheir diversion structure, along with a
possible funding solution to have it repaired or replaced.

In April of2002, the Colorado Water Conservation Board entered into a Contract with the
Farnsworth Group, Denver, Colorado, to evaluated the condition ofthe existing diversion structures along
the South Platte River, from the City of Henderson to the State Line. The State of Colorado Division I
Engineer's Office in Greeley, Colorado has broken this area doWll into three separate districts; District 1,
District 2, and District 64. Currently the Farnsworth Group has completed all the inventory work for
District 2, which incorporates an area along the South Platte from the City of Henderson to the City of
Keensburg, and they are currently in the field working on District I. The consultant is expected to have
all fieldwork completed by the September of2002, with the final report being completed by November of
2002. . All project funds for 'fiscal year 2002 have been expended. Remaining funds that are not
expended to complete the inveutory along the South Platte will be used to inventory the existing diversion
structures along the Arkansas River, from approximately the City Fowler to the State Line.

8.

Upper Gunnison River Water Conservancv District - Regional Water Planning Studv for the
Upper Gunnison Basin
Authorization: Long Bill
Water Source: Upper Gunnison River
Location: Gunnison & Saguache Counties

Grant Amount: $20,000
Project Type: Study
Project Manager: John Van Sciver

Page 27 of3 I
