With the use of the additional labor, the CWCB expects to complete the imaging <br />of documents for the following sections during calendar year 2002: <br /> <br />I) Flood Protection Section <br />2) Water Supply Planning and Finance Section <br />3) Stream and Lake Protection Section <br />4) Administrative Section <br /> <br />The benefits associated with the CWCB's Imaging System include the following: <br /> <br />I) creates the "Virtual WRIC," which will allow users to access most Water Resource Information <br />Center (WRIC) docmnents and, eventually, all CWCB docmnents, via the intemet <br />2) increases user accessibility to all CWCB docmnents <br />3) protects loss of historic documents by providing off-site back-up storage <br />4) improves completeness of stored data <br />5) improves record filing and retrieval, and eliminates re-filing and lost/misfiled documents <br />6) provides a data-based decision makiug tool <br />7) provides for simultaneous access to documents by multiple users <br />8) make all past present and future CWCB docmnents electronically filed and read <br /> <br />The additional funding for the CWCB Imaging System in the amount of $150,000 provided under <br />HB02-1152 will be used to (1) continue adding documents to the imaging system, (2) provide optical <br />character recognitiou capabilities to certain documents, and (3) implement the CWCB's use of imaged <br />docmnents on the internet. . <br /> <br />36. <br /> <br />U.S. Bureau ofRecIamation / State Land Board Right-of-Wav - Closed Basin Proiect <br />Authorizatiou: HB 00-1419 Grant Amount: $306,000 <br />Water Source: Closed Basin Project Type: Right of Way Acquisition <br />Location: San Luis Valley N. of A1amosa Project Manager: Mike Serlet <br /> <br />This project is the acquisition of right-of-way (ROW) for the Closed Basin project in the San Luis <br />Valley. The project was completed several years ago however, based on contractual agreement, the ROW <br />needs to be acquired from the State Land Board by the CWCB and then assigned to the Bureau of <br />Reclamation (BOR) for their operation of the project. The BOR has defmed the legal descriptions for the <br />ROWand the Land Board is currently preparing the land transfer documents. <br /> <br />The final acquisition process should be completed in 2002 or early 2003 at which time funds will be <br />transferred to the Land Board. <br /> <br />37. South Platte Lower River Group - State-Private Partnerships in Managed Groundwater Re-regulation <br />Authorization: SB 01-157 GrantAmount: $150,000 <br />Water Source: Platte River Project Type: Demonstration-Pilot <br />Location: Sedgwick County Project Manager: John Van Sciver <br /> <br />Funding is to cover 88% of the cost of a pilot demonstration project to assess the possibility of a <br />public/private partnership for manage groundwater recharge on the lower South Platte River. (Managed <br />groundwater projects are designed to retime flows at the lower end of the South Platte from periods of excess <br />to periods of shortage.) This pilot project is designed to create a pelpetual State interest in water projects that <br />will benefit the State in meeting its needs for species of concern, in meeting its commitments for threatened <br />and endangered species in the Platte River Basin, and for other water management pmposes.
