Water Resource Investigation - South Platte Lower River Group Tamarack Project <br />Authorization: SB 96-153 . Grant Amount: $240,000 <br />Water Source: South Platte Project Type: Demonstration Project <br />Location: Logan and Sedgwick Counties Project Manager: John Van Sciver <br /> <br />Funding is to cover approximately 10% of the cost of a demonstration project consisting of a series <br />of managed groundwater subprojects located within the Ta!marack Ranch State Wildlife area, the Pony <br />Express State Wildlife area, and other areas adjacent to thll South Platte River in Logan and Sedgwick <br />Counties. The purpose is to pump water from the South Platt~ River during times of surplus and deliver this <br />water to infiltration areas. Water then percolates back to the river and provides augmentation during times of <br />shortage. Project participants include the Northern Colorado ;Water Conservancy District, the Lower South <br />Platte Water Conservancy District, Ground Water Appropriators of the South Platte, the Platte River Project, <br />and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <br /> <br />Over ten wells have been completed along with th~ pipelines to deliver the water to a number of <br />infiltration areas. The demonstration portion of the project i$ complete and SPLRG has drawn $164,615 of <br />the CWCB funding, and has invoice<1, for the remaining $73)385. CWCB funding will be fully expended by <br />the end July 2002. <br /> <br />39. <br /> <br />El Paso County Water Master Plan <br />Authorizatiou: lIB 00-1419 <br />Water Source: Various <br />Location: EI Paso County <br /> <br />Grant Amount: $200,000 <br />Project Type: Water Master Plan <br />Project Manager: Tim Feehan <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />This project is a 4-year program of technical studies aimed at the development of a long range, <br />countywide water master plan. The purpose of the plan is to develop water resources, systems, and facilities <br />in whole or in part for the benefit of the Authority member$ and their inhabitants, and other residents of the <br />county, now and into the future. The County is currently focusing on eight study areas; EI Paso County <br />water resources, potential water import projects, optimum cqunty water distribution infrastructure, water plan <br />for private well owners, water reuse projects, synergistic' projects with Colorado Springs utilities, other <br />studies, and an overall project master plan summary.
