I

I

GOV. JOHNSON:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. KUIPER:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. NEWMEYER:

MR. STAPLETON:

MR. S. MILLER:

I'd like to recognize Governor Johnson.
Governor, glad to have you with us again."

"Thank you, Ben."

"Kuip, would you introduce the new employee
of the Board, Mr. Newmeyer, for us, please?"

"Oh, yes. We have a new employee which took
the position I vacated temporarily until Sparks
gets back. Mr. Newmeyer is a retired electrical
engineer from the Bureau of Reclamation. He
comes to us very highly qualified and at a very
opportune time. We are right in the middle of
this transmission hassle. We thought we were
very fortunate in getting a man of Mr. Newmeyer's
stature in helping us out in resolving the
problem. Bill."

"Will you stand up, Mr. Newmeyer? Glad to
have you with us."

" I . m glad to be introduced to you all. I fee I
that we have a very interesting, although a very
complex, problem ahead of us with very scant time
to cover the field. I will be pleased to help
in any way that I can."

"Thank you, Mr. Newmeyer.

The next item on the agenda is the 'Status
Report on Activities 'and I think, Stan Miller,
will you give us this report? Didn't you pre-
pare this? Would you like to give it then?"

"This office has been working closely with
the S.C.S. on their 566 projects in the hopes
that we can speed up the program and conclude
more projects. They were limited in the size
of their planning and I believe we have helped
quite a bit. The first project we worked on was
Fishers Peak and Carbon Arroyos. The project
consists of a flood retarding dam on Fishers Peak
Arroyo and one on Carbon Arroyo, and also channel
improvements through the City of Trinidad. It
provides flood protection primarily to the busi-
ness district of Trinidad. Total cost of the
