<br />the intent or the purpose or the stated posi- <br />tion of the resolution - it was one more of a <br />typographical error than anything else - the <br />resolution was adopted. <br /> <br />I made a statement with respect to that I <br />resolution and I notice that it is in the papers <br />which we have before us. I didn't know this <br />was going to be made but I think I might very <br />well read that statement that I made yesterday <br />before the Commission which represents the Colo- <br />rado position with respect to this resolution <br />and with respect to this whole matter. This <br />is my statement: <br /> <br />I take great comfort and satisfaction in <br />having our staff undertake a thorough examina- <br />tion and unbiased study of all the ramifications <br />of the construction of whatever transmission <br />lines may prove to be absolutely necessary to <br />market to the best advantage the energy produced <br />by the Storage project. To conserve the reve- <br />nues of the Basin Fund is our compelling objec- <br />tive. <br /> <br />Our horses must not be spared. This is a <br />vital task and a bare bones challenge which must <br />be prosecuted without fear or favor. To ferret <br />out the hidden factors for action by Congres- <br />sional Committees without concern for any inter- <br />est other than the basin interest is our job. <br />This is not a routine matter, but is one which <br />must have our undivided attention. <br /> <br />::}" <br /> <br />Currently the Bureau is holding sessions <br />with the private utilities, preference users and <br />others with this commission sitting out in left <br />field marking time. Our responsibility to <br />Congress should compel us to know what is going <br />on. To protect the Basin Fund, observers from <br />this Commission should be present in all of <br />these smoke-filled rooms. Either our Executive <br />Secretary or his representative should at least <br />sit in as an observer on all discussions between <br />the Bureau and the power suppliers in the area. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The unfortunate controversy in the recent <br />
